The Tribe Has Spoken

Tough to find positives in a game like this, and VT played much better than I expected. The amount of speed they have is unreal.

The defense played much better. Most of the points were with a short field. Had a few sacks on Taylor, and the DB’s caused at least one of them. 4 total sacks. A lot of missed opportunities early like the punt which hit a blocker and the INT Josh Rutter should have pulled in.

Phillips was off for most of the game, probably due to the pressure coming on every play. He still made some nice throws though. Joe Nicholas did a great job getting open and also made a great catch. Same goes for Cam Dohse.

The RB’s weren’t that great. Schonder played well, averaging a little less than 5 yards a carry. Viola had a pretty bad game, but he thrives when faces D’s which are smaller than him. I expect him to play much better next week.
