Tribe Falls to Holy Cross….Again
Posted by TTHS on November 25th, 2006
It would be nice to pull an upset against a solid mid-major sometime.
The rebounding in the last couple minutes was absolutely terrible. When the stats come out, I’m sure they’ll show all of HC’s second chance points. This was the problem against Kansas State, and Coach Shaver tried to fix it, but it has been to no avail.
Also, in the second half we fouled way too much. Alex Smith was one of the main suspects, but they got into the bonus way too fast. Cut the fouls.
Thirdly, after tying the game we seemingly let up, and that’s when they put us into a 10-point hole. We flat-out couldn’t score, couldn’t rebound, couldn’t do anything in that time, and Holy Cross ran circles around us. Hopefully this can be motivation going to Navy on Tuesday.
A little bit more….
Leading scorer is Adam Payton, with 15 points and 5-14 shooting. Liamis was 4-10 for 10 points, and Nathan Mann broke through with 12 points. Nathan was the leading rebounder.
The big men, again, really need to pick it up in the rebounding department. They got 15 of the Tribe’s 32 boards. Yes, they were out-rebounded by the guards. This should be the point of emphasis this week in practice.
Schneider had his worst showing to date, only scoring 4 and going 1-7. You have to wonder if his ankle is still bothering him.
We had a better shooting percentage than HC. In the second half they outscored us and shot 25%! 9% from long range! We really need to get the turnovers down, 15 today compared to 11 assists. They had 21 second-chance points to our 14.

Final.
